The counselors at our sister high school decided to celebrate National School Counseling Week this year and they reported that it was a big hit! This was the first year that they took it upon themselves to celebrate as a team for the counseling profession. They led the way and when we heard their plans, we knew we needed to follow suit.
Both schools put out treats for faculty, staff, and administration to thank them for collaborating to support student success. The staff at the schools were surprised and appreciative and one teacher hung her head and said, “But we make your job hard!”
Posters were up in the counseling office and counselors wore spirited counselor T-shirts. Students were entertained with music, games, and candy at one school and “Positive Pops” at the other.
One of the counselors said, “I believe we lifted spirits and increased moral which is one of our goals as counselors!”
